Your safety is our number one priority.

Personal safety is at the heart of our purpose – providing freedom to move in a safe, sustainable and personal way.

To ensure we fulfill this mission and in alignment with the guidelines issued by the German Federal Government to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), we are taking the following steps to serve you in this situation:

Our showrooms are closed until further notice. Our sales team is available through e-mail, telephone and video calls, e.g. Skype. Guiding customers through the sales process and providing after-sales support remotely is part of our DNA: We have been specialized in e-commerce for more than 20 years. Most of our customers already enjoy handling all the necessary paperwork by e-mail in the meantime.

The workshops at our different locations remain opened to ensure your personal mobility whenever needed. Guidelines based on advice from health professionals that can help limit exposure to the virus are in place at our facilities. To support “social distancing”, we ask you to always call before you visit us.

Thank you for being a valued member of our global family.

Take care,

Volvo Cars to implement blockchain traceability of cobalt

Volvo electric model line

Volvo Cars will become the first carmaker to implement global traceability of cobalt used in its batteries by applying blockchain technology. The announcement follows the reveal last month of the company’s first fully electric car, the XC40 Recharge.

Traceability of raw materials used in the production of lithium ion batteries, such as cobalt, is one of the main sustainability challenges faced by car makers. Volvo Cars is committed to full traceability, ensuring that customers can drive electrified Volvos knowing the material for the batteries has been sourced responsibly.

Volvo Cars to radically reduce carbon emissions

Volvo Factory Solar Panels

Volvo Cars launched one of the most ambitious plans in the automotive industry, aiming to reduce its lifecycle carbon footprint per car by 40 per cent between 2018 and 2025. This is the first, tangible step towards Volvo Cars’ ambition of becoming a climate neutral company by 2040.

The plan represents concrete actions in line with the global Paris climate agreement of 2015, which seeks to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Read more

Another step towards Volvo’s electrified future

Volvo expands its product range with two more electrified model versions: After launching several diesel engines with a mild hybrid system earlier this year, the first petrol engines are now also being converted to the 48 V vehicle electrical system with mild hybrid technology. This means that the entire Volvo XC90 series is now electrified. At the same time, we are happy to announce that the long-awaited Volvo XC40 T5 Twin Engine (plug-in hybrid) is now ready to be ordered and the fully electric XC40 SUV, Volvo’s first electric car, will be introduced later this month.
